On a trip to Santa Fe a few years ago, when I wasn’t eating guacamole and drinking margaritas, I spent some time walking around the historic downtown area. There were so many beautiful things to see, but one building really stood out for me: the lovely Inn and Spa at Loretto. It looked like a southwestern castle. It seemed imposing and welcoming at the same time. The warmth of the adobe facade contrasted against the vivid blue of the sky was like visual ASMR, scratching an itch I didn’t even realize was there.
